Alagappa University

Alagappa University was brought into existence by a Special Act of the Government of Tamil Nadu in May 1985 with the objective of fostering research, development and dissemination of knowledge in various branches of learning.

Alagappa University is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India. The University has 44 Departments, 9 Centres, and 2 Constituent Colleges on its campus. 46 Affiliated Colleges located in the districts of Sivaganga and Ramanathapuram are part of the University.

The University offers education through Regular, Week-end, Distance and Collaborative modes.

As a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), as well as the member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), it has rewarding relations with other academic institutions, research laboratories, and industrial establishments that promise a spectacular future

The University is having International Collaborations with Universities / Institutions of Higher Learning in countries like the U.S.A, the UK, Australia, Singapore, China, Malaysia, and South Korea. Innovative programs are designed and offered at the University for the foreign students

In order to promote quality education, the MHRD has taken several initiatives and they expect the institutions to attain a good position in various parameters such as

(i) Accreditation by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with good grades,

(ii) Categorization of Institutions by MHRD-UGC,

(iii) Autonomy Status by MHRD-UGC,

(iv) NIRF Rank within 50,

(v) Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) Grant

(vi) Institution of Eminence (IOE) Status.

Alagappa University is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India.

Alagappa University has achieved many milestones. A few of them are as under;

  • Obtained A+ Grade with CGPA of 3.64 grading by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
    Alagappa University is the first State University in Tamil Nadu to obtain an A+ grade.
  • Obtained Category-I–I status by the MHRD-UGC and occupies 2nd place out of 12 State Universities with Category-I Status in the Country. It is the only State University in Tamil Nadu to obtain Category-I Status.
  • Obtained Autonomy status (one among 60 Institutions in the country announced by MHRD).
  • Secured 28th position among Universities in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2019 ranking.
  • Secured 20th position in QS India Ranking, 104th position in QS BRICS Ranking, and 216th position in QS Asia Ranking 2019.
  • The University has secured 4th position in Swachhta Ranking 2018 for the cleanest Higher Educational Institutions in the Country in the category of Government Institutions.
  • The University has obtained ISO 9001-2015 certification based on the quality measures in higher education.
  • The University has bagged the Indian Association for the Blind (IAB) Silver Zone Award for outstanding excellence and amazing contribution to the empowerment of persons with Visual Challenges.

Bharathidasan University

Bharathidasan University (BDU) is a university in the city of Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India. It is located on Tiruchirappalli-Pudukkottai National Highway 336. It has affiliated colleges in the districts of Ariyalur district, Karur, Nagapattinam, Perambalur, Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur and Tiruchirapalli. It is a recognised university, supported by the University Grants Commission of India. All major faculties of science and arts are represented. The university has totally 4 Faculties, 16 Schools, 37 Departments and 29 Specialized Research Centres.

The University Departments/Schools are offering 151 programmes including 40 PG programmes in M.A., M.Sc. and M.Tech. The above programmes are conducted under the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) in Semesters: 31 M.Phil., 33 Ph.D., 19 P.G. Diploma, 11 Diploma and 10 Certificates. In addition to the regular teaching programmes in the Departments and Schools, the university under its Distance Education mode is conducting 15 UG and 26 PG programmes. All the UG and PG programmes are conducted under non-semester system and MCA and MBA programmes are conducted under semester system along with the regular programmes. The MCA and MBA programmes conducted under this mode are very popular.

Annamalai University

The Annamalai University (informally titled as AU) is a public state university in Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu, India. The 1,500-acre (6.1 km2) sprawling campus offers courses of higher education in arts, science, engineering, management, humanities, agriculture, and physical education. The university also provides more than 500 courses through distance education. With over 32,480 students residing on campus, it is one of the largest teaching, and residential universities in Asia, and is among the most reputed and ranked universities in India including the rankings from NIRF, QS World University Rankings, Times University Rankings, CWTS Leiden Ranking, India Today Magazine, India Today MDRA, AISHE, ARIIA, SCImago Institutions Rankings.

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council has conferred accreditation to the university in the fourth cycle, and subsequently with its highest A+ grade in 2022. Annamalai University is also recognized among the top 18 universities in India having the ‘Centre with Potential for Excellence in Particular Area (CPEPA)’ with a focus on drug development and climate change.

Established in 1929, it is one of the oldest and among the most prestigious universities in India. The university was also ranked as 18th most influential institution in India and, It is also among the topmost google searched universities in India as well as in the World.

Annamalai University is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU). All the degrees awarded by Annamalai University senate are mutually recognized by all Indian Universities and Foreign Universities under the commonwealth fold. The Division of Continuing Education or Directorate of Distance Education of the university is also a permanent member of AMDISA (Association of Management Development Institutions in South Asia) that provides the SAQS Accreditation (South Asian Quality System) to the Institutions.

Anna University

Anna University is a public state university located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. The main campus is in Guindy. It was originally established on 4 September 1978 and is named after C. N. Annadurai, former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

Anna University (Chennai) comprises four colleges – the principal seat College of Engineering, Guindy (CEG, Guindy Campus), Alagappa College of Technology (ACT, Guindy Campus), Madras Institute of Technology (MIT, Chromepet Campus) and School of Architecture and Planning (SAP, Guindy Campus).

The first version of Anna University was formed in 1978 and various governments changed the varsity’s structure and affiliation scope repeatedly. In 2001, under the Anna University Amendment Act of 2001, the erstwhile Anna University became an affiliating university, taking under its wings all the engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu. This included six government engineering colleges, three government-aided private institutions, and 426 self-financed colleges. On 1 February 2007, as a result of a Government of Tamil Nadu decision, the university was split into six constituent universities: Anna University, Chennai; Anna University of Technology, Chennai; Anna University of Technology, Tiruchirappalli; Anna University of Technology, Coimbatore; Anna University of Technology Tirunelveli and Anna University of Technology, Madurai. The institutes were formally created in 2010. On 14 September 2011 during period of Ex CM Jayalalitha, a bill was passed to re-merge the universities. The merger was finalized in August 2012.

In 2011 and 2012 the constituents colleges were merged back to a single affiliating university and the four regional universities continue to function as a regional campus of the university.
